Foundation Moving and Playing PDHPE Homeschool Unit

Help your child develop confidence, coordination and fundamental movement skills with this practical, enjoyable Health and Physical Education unit designed especially for homeschooling families.

Created for children in their first year of school, this unit includes 10 flexible lessons exploring safe movement, balance, running, stopping, dodging, jumping, hopping, galloping, skipping, rolling, throwing, catching, trapping, kicking and striking. Children learn through active games, skill challenges, imaginative movement, simple circuits and cooperative activities.

The unit also helps children build spatial awareness, use equipment safely, follow instructions, take turns, encourage others and recognise how practice, feedback and persistence support improvement.

Designed for homeschooling

Each lesson is designed to take approximately 30–45 minutes and can be shortened, extended or completed over several sessions.

Activities include traffic-light movement games, balance challenges, running and dodging courses, river jumps, animal journeys, target throwing, balloon catching and striking, cooperative games and a final personalised movement circuit.

Activities can be adapted for one child and completed with a parent, carer or sibling. Equipment can be replaced with safe household objects such as rolled-up socks, laundry baskets, plastic bottles and balloons, making the unit flexible and easy to use at home.
